In this article, the authors present the result of an analysis on the “Use of Internet for the disclosure of financial information by listed companies”, following Consob amendment n. DME/1000796 del 4/1/2001.
The aim of the article is to analyze the state of the art in Italy of online financial disclosure through the Investor Relations website of companies listed on both Borsa Italiana and the New Market segment).
The article discusses the multiple roles of internet as an instrument to implement Consob recommendations on online financial communication towards stakeholders. Finally, the article sums up the conclusions of the analysis conducted and makes some final suggestions on the need to improve the quality of financial disclosure by listed companies on their websites.
